A short project that introduces inclusive perspectives and design for other species to students that have been learning mainly about human center design methods. This project seeks to amplify the approach that design can have and how it can be used for other species besides humans. Design is used as a tool to create connections and interactions between humans and non-humans, in this case plants and other species that cohabit and create tinny ecosystems around plants, such as, pollinators. Design is also used to improve the life of plants and to better understand their needs and feelings.
This first edition was a 10-day project for 4th semester bachelor design students from Tec de Monterrey University (ITESM) Campus Estado de México, México

Planto banco
A seat for plants which offers an ideal height and an alternative against damage from its stems and its leaves. The stool brings the plant closer to the window and therefore to sunlight while it also protects its leaves from pets playing with them - in this case a dog.

Florence
Florence is a set of objects that help an avocado tree to live in a harmonious and healthy way with the ants. Ants can be considered pests or harmful to the tree because they eat its leaves and threaten the healthy growth of it and its fruit. So Florence are feeders that seek to provide food for the ants and thus provide protection for the tree.

Intervención
So that the neighbors can realize the needs of the plants, they must know what they are. These pennants allow lavenders to manifest and communicate with their human neighbors.

Paradise C-T
Paradise C-T serves as a home for two individuals, a plant and a cat, it also generates a healthier coexistence between them. Paradise C-T raises the plant so that it can better get the sun it needs when inside the house. It also prevents the cat from playing with the plant and its leaves thanks to the material that covers the house, which helps to distract the cat and to lose sight of the plant.

Solaris
Solaris is a parasol that protects plants from too much sunlight. Some plants do not need direct sunlight and still they live outside, so this retractable parasol makes the sun's rays dimmer. Therefore, it makes the outside a habitable space for this kind of plants.

Descifrando los colores
The color of the leaves can tell the state of a plant. This color palette facilitates and works as an indicator of how the plant feels, translates and helps humans to understand its needs. For example, if the plant lacks water its green is different than if it's happy.

February 2023
This second edition focused on public areas and how to create awareness of the plants that we share parks and sidewalks with, to mention some. It also explored the idea of creating interactions and breaking barriers between humans and plants.
This was a 15-day project for 4th semester bachelor design students from Tec de Monterrey University (ITESM) Campus Estado de México, México.

Apapacho
Apapacho in Mexico means hug, this stool invites people to feel embraced and welcomed by the trees. Its shape adapts to those spaces between branches to fit perfectly in each tree.

Plantados
Plantados seeks to protect the plants on our campus and invites us to give them help. It consists of a window-shaped stand which invites you to position yourself in front of the plant. The human body helps to give the plants (in front) shade while you take a time to observe and be with them.

Zumbal
Plants are sensitive to the buzz produced by bees. The petals, in addition to having the function of attracting pollinators with their bright colors, also serve to capture sound. Zumbal is a buzz player that causes the flowers of a plant (in this case lavender) to generate a higher concentration of sugar in its nectar. It works by pressing a button that turns on the fan inside the speaker, which imitates the sound of bees. At the same time, it generates vibrations that the plant perceives to start generating more sugar and attracting its pollinators.

Conectados
The project explores the interaction between humans and trees. It seeks the exchange of positive energies, through different types of affective and spiritual bonds. It invites humans to have physical contact with trees through the arms, palms, and fingers. The project consists of a manual and an analog counter that reflects the times that people have decided to have this contact with the tree and invites those who have not yet done so.

Beto
Beto is a tool designed to connect, and to learn more about plants and their needs. With it you can observe the growth of its leaves, visualize the wind that refreshes it, know if it has enough water, among other things.

Protección
There are plants that are toxic to animals, such as dogs. These plants hurt dogs when they get close to sniff. This project is a diffuser that contains a mix of hibiscus and citrus, odors that dogs don't like. Which keeps dogs away from the plants, preventing them from getting sick, at the same time protects the plant from being damaged.

February 2024
This third edition focused on plants and other species such as insects living in public areas and/or in houses. The scope was on how to create awareness of the plants and insects that we share home spaces, parks, sidewalks with, to mention some. It also explored the idea of creating interactions and breaking barriers between humans and plants.
This was a 12-day project for 4th semester bachelor design students from Tec de Monterrey University (ITESM) Campus Estado de México, México.

Susurros
Susurros, whispers in English, is a system that creates a relationship between human and tree. Just as its name says, it seeks for the person to tell, whisper, or speak to a tree in a safe way, creating a bond of trust and relief.

¡CUIDADO, CUIDADO!
Humans and non-humans use the same areas, in this case, a public and transitional space. This object seeks to ensure that the transition of other species is safe. Its striking color makes us turn around at least once, recognizing this space as a shared one.

Percibir(nos)
Presence(us) is an object that seeks to provoke, explore and deepen the human-lavender connection and interaction. So we, humans, can understand and exercise their care much better and in a certain way come to empathize with the cycles of this way of life that is often overlooked.

Beyond
An object designed to create a bond between a plant, a human and a small colony of insects. It seeks to encourage interaction and at the same time helps create a small ecosystem in which each of those involved has a responsibility.
Trying to be as simple as possible without leaving aside its little users, the mealybugs, Beyond represents the warmth of a home, as if it were a small farm.
