Spent 4 days learning about birch bark weaving, its traditions and how-to weave a traditional crossed basket. Thanks to Jaana Öljymäki for the experience and the knowledge.


Aitta means barn in Finnish, this small red house building was recently renewed but it was built in the 1940’s and it is where Jaana has established her workspace and business. During the trip I spent my time mostly at Aitta, weaving, learning and talking with Jaana.
